Beers/Bitters

Wells Bombardier Bitter (4.3% ABV)

Wells Bombardier English Premium Bitter (Alc. 4.3% Vol.) from the Wells & Young's Brewing Company Ltd, has become synonymous with St. George's Day and all that is English, throughout the length and breadth of the country.

'A burnished copper colour, it has a rich, tempting aroma of peppery hops and raisins, while the palate is dominated by more dark fruit, juicy malt and tangy hops.'

Roger Protz
Editor, The Good Beer Guide

As most lovers of cask ale know, water is the most important ingredient in beer, and Wells Bombardier has an enviable natural advantage over other premium bitters; it is uniquely brewed using natural mineral water from an independently accredited source - our own well.

Wells Bombardier uses only the most flavoursome part of the rippest, hand sampled English 'Challenger' and 'Goldings' hops to guarantee a delicious sultana fruit taste and a wonderful, spicy aroma.

We also use more malt per pint than other premium bitters and our English ' Crystal' malt is carefully crushed, not ground, to deliver the rich flavour and deep copper colour for which Wells Bombardier is renowned.

Young's Bitter (3.7% ABV)

Young’s Bitter shares the heritage of 175 years of brewing expertise. Today Young’s Bitter is the fastest growing standard cask ale in England and Wales and is a ‘Top 10’ standard cask ale brand.

With high levels of awareness and popularity amongst ale drinkers nationally, Young’s Bitter is a quaffable, ‘sessionable’ pint, whose lower ABV recognises the need for responsible drinking.

Young’s Bitter’s new, contemporary branding delivers a perfect balance between memorable stand-out at the bar and the traditional values of a genuine quality cask ale.

"A refreshing cask ale, golden in colour, with a light, dry palate, a fresh, fruity aroma and a long, satisfying bitter finish".

Young’s Bitter is a 100% malt brew combining Maris Otter and Crystal malt with locally sourced British Fuggle and Goldings hops. Young’s Bitter’s renowned consistency and quality delivers high yields and is quick to drop bright (usually within 24 hours).

Young's Waggle Dance (5.0% ABV)

Unusual name, unusual beer! The “Waggle Dance” is the movement a bee performs to alert the hive to a source of nectar. The Waggle Dance beer (Alc. 5.0% Vol.) is a beautifully balanced, sneakily seductive, golden coloured beer. it is popular both as a cask ale and in 500ml bottle across a wide range of beer lovers both male and female and of all (legal) drinking ages.

“Amber beer with a touch of honey on the nose and palate. The sweetness is balanced by a healthy dose of hops to provide the bitterness that gives a wonderfully delicate flavour.”

Pale Ale and Crystal malts and British Fuggle and Golding hops, together with South American honey, combine perfectly to create this delicious golden ale with a superb honey aroma.
